The PGA TOUR returns for the start of the FedEx Cup Fall at the Procore Championship in Napa, California, at Silverado Resort. The FedEx Cup Fall features an opportunity for players to compete for titles and purses at prestigious events while also improving their ranking in the FedEx Cup standings ahead of the start of the 2025 season.
Falling between the FedEx Cup Playoffs finale and the Presidents Cup, several big-name golfers have decided to skip the Procore Championship. The event still features some solid names, including Max Homa and Wyndham Clark.
Notably, defending champion Sahith Theegala returns to defend his title.
⛳️ Mission Presidents Cup: The newly renamed Procore Championship will heavily represent both sides of the upcoming Presidents Cup, with the players aiming to get the best possible preparation ahead of the team competition.
11 members of the two teams, including both team captains, will compete in Napa - US skipper Jim Furyk will be joined by his assistants Kevin Kisner and Stewart Cink.
The International team skipper captain Mike Weir joins the competition with a sponsor’s exemption. He will play alongside assistant captain Camilo Villegas and teammates like Min Woo Lee, Corey Conners, and Mackenzie Hughes.
Webb Simpson, Joel Dahmen, Luke Clanton, and Neal Shipley are other Presidents Cup-committed players competing in the tournament. Gary Woodland, Cameron Champ, Lucas Glover, Tom Hoge, Camilo Villegas, Adam Schenk, and Eric Cole are other names to watch out for.

These Are The Biggest Takeaways From This Season

As the golf season ends – there are still tournaments to be played for golfers fighting to make the top 125 players and secure an exemption for 2025 – it’s interesting to look back on 2024.
📌 Scheffler's Year: Scottie Scheffler is at or near the top of any season this century. Seven PGA Tour wins including the Masters, the Players Championship and the Tour Championship has the feel of some of Woods’ better years.
Scheffler has 13 wins in three years now including two majors.
📌 Star Power: If the PGA Tour thrives on star power, then the 2024 season was exactly what the PGA Tour would have wanted. Scheffler, the No 1 player in the world, won seven times and added an Olympic gold medal for good measure while world No 2 Xander Schauffele broke through with two major championships to cement the status people had been expecting from him.
Rory McIlroy won twice on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau had a big year with the one-shot win at the US Open.
📌 Nick Dunlap's Rise: Dunlap became the first golfer to win as an amateur on the PGA Tour in 33 years, since Phil Mickelson’s win at the Northern Telecom Open in Tucson in 1991. Later, Dunlap won the Barracuda Championship, becoming the first golfer ever to win on the tour as an amateur and a pro in the same season.
📌 Murray Gone Too Soon: Grayson Murray won his first PGA Tour event in seven years at the Sony Open in Hawaii in January, a win that came after years of fighting alcohol abuse and mental health issues. The feel-good story turned tragic in May, when the 30-year-old Murray withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas one day and was found dead by suicide the following day in his home in Florida.
📌 No Deal Yet: As the 2024 season ends, there is still no deal between the PGA Tour and the PIF, though the money from the SSG has helped the PGA Tour for the time being. It seems now that any deal between the two golf leagues won’t be able to take effect until the 2026 season.

What else is making news
PGA Tour Champions: Y.E. Yang of South Korea sank his birdie putt on the first playoff hole to defeat the hard-charging Bernhard Langer and win his first PGA Tour Champions title at the Ascension Charity Classic in St. Louis.
DP World Tour: Matt Wallace holed an 8-foot birdie putt on No 18 to beat Alfredo Garcia-Heredia of Spain in the first playoff hole and win his fifth European tour event - and his first in six years.
Tennis*Golf: Andy Murray has been confirmed for the Pro-Am at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth - which takes place on Wednesday 18 September.
Rory On Vacation: After finishing 12th at the Tour Championship, which concluded this season’s FedEx Playoffs, Rory McIlroy has a golf-free week, and he has taken advantage of the break to watch some tennis at the US Open in New York.
