Fun Fact: Who was the last American to win the Amundi Evian Championship? Answer at the end of the email.

⛳ This day in history: On this date, in 1993, Jack Nicklaus two-putted from 35 feet on the final green to win the US Senior Open by one shot over Tom Weiskopf at Cherry Hills Country Club. It was Jack’s second US Senior Open.

The collapse at the US Open is a thing of the past now and Rory McIlroy claims that he has gotten over it. McIlroy is back after a three-week break and is now focused on defending his Scottish Open title at The Renaissance Club.

McIlroy went to New York for a scheduled trip following his heartbreaking loss at Pinehurst and spent some time alone. He now looks to start afresh with his ultimate goal being winning the Open title at Royal Troon next week.

"The few days after it were pretty tough at times, but I feel like I've done a good job of thinking about it rationally and constructively and taking what I need from it and trying to learn from it. I got over it pretty quickly.”

- Rory McIlroy

McIlroy also addressed the criticism directed at his caddie Harry Diamond, who took verbal shots from NBC's Smylie Kaufman and instructor Hank Haney. The World No 2 golfer defended his caddie stating that "Harry knows what he's doing".

📌 Rory's 2-Iron Shot Memorialized: Rory McIlroy won the Scottish Open last year with back-to-back birdies - his final approach was a perfectly executed 2-iron stinger to 11 feet, a putt he holed for a one-shot victory. The shot was so good that The Renaissance Club in Scotland commemorated it with a plaque.

Throughout most of 2024, McIlroy has been using a TaylorMade “Proto” 4-iron, to go along with a Qi10 5 wood. But he has added the same P760 2-iron in his bag for this week - will history repeat itself?

Only time will tell.

Korda Aims For Stability In Rollercoaster Season

Nelly Korda has had a rough phase of late, having missed her last three cuts (a first for her as a professional). Those disappointing results coincided with a battle against fatigue and an odd incident involving a dog biting her on the thigh at a Seattle coffee shop.

Her last made cut came in May at the Mizuho Americas Open -- where she won her sixth tournament of the season. Those victories came in a span of seven tournaments and netted her nearly $3 million in earnings.

It has been a season of ups and downs for the World No 1 but she tees off today at the Amundi Evian Championship with just one thing in mid - win the Major.

⛳️ Who will challenge Korda @ Evian? Amy Yang makes her 19th start in the Evian this week, but it’s wildly different this time around as she comes to France a major champion. The 34-year-old enjoyed one of the all-time great celebrations on the 18th green at the Sahalee as a number of peers came out to share in her joy.

Korda can certainly expect a tough competition from Yang in France.

Defending champion Celine Boutier will be another strong force to reckon with. She became the first Frenchwoman to win the Evian last year. Crowd support will definitely be an added advantage for Boutier on her home turf.

These Star Golfers Have Been The Biggest Disappointments In 2024

From Scottie Scheffler winning six tournaments in 10 starts to Xander Schauffele getting the major championship monkey off his back, there have been some brilliant performances on the PGA Tour in 2024 but we've also seen our fair share of disappointments.

Let's take a look at 5 golfers having the most disappointing seasons on the PGA Tour.

🏌‍♀Max Homa: Homa has eight top-25 finishes in 16 starts and notched a T-3 finish at the Masters for his best-ever major finish, but his 2024 campaign hasn't been good enough for his lofty standards. He has recorded only three top-10 finishes this season, and the closest he's been to the winner has been five shots.

🏌‍♀Will Zalatoris: Zalatoris missed most of last season after undergoing back surgery, and it's been a struggle for him to find his old form. The rising star found a groove with three top-10 finishes in the span of five starts early in the season, but he's only gone downhill since then.

Over his last eight starts, Zalatoris has two missed cuts and hasn't finished better than T-41.

🏌‍♀Viktor Hovland: Hovland didn't finish better than T-19 in his first six starts of the season, and he reverted back to one of the worst chippers on the PGA Tour. He showed some signs of life at the PGA Championship with a solo third, but he then missed the cut at the US Open due to a poor short-game week.

🏌‍♀Jordan Spieth: Spieth has five missed cuts and recorded only one top-25 finish in his last 15 starts. Despite having a strong season with the driver, Spieth has been wildly inconsistent with his iron play and short game.

Spieth hasn't won on Tour since April 2022, and he's not going to end that streak anytime soon the way he's playing.

🏌‍♀Rickie Fowler: Fowler has more missed cuts (5) than top-30 finishes (3) this year. He ranks 155th out of 175 qualified players in total strokes gained, and he is currently 94th in the FedEx Cup standings.

This could very well be the beginning of the end for the 35-year-old.
