Good Morning. Bryson DeChambeau won his second US Open title following a thrilling finish at Pinehurst No 2 which saw Rory McIlroy choke on the final hole!

Take a look at the equipment DeChambeau used during his victorious campaign and the complete prize money breakdown.

Fun Fact: Rory McIlroy is the first player in US Open history to finish alone in 2nd place, 1 shot back, in back-to-back years.

⛳ This day in history: In 1961, Gene Littler won the US Open at Oakland Hills, and in 1962, the legendary playoff between Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus was played at Oakmont, with Nicklaus winning his first major by three shots as a rookie. Both on this date.

Bryson DeChambeau won the 124th U.S. Open held at Pinehurst No 2 on Sunday. The tournament concluded with a dramatic finish, where DeChambeau described his shot on the 72nd hole as "the best shot of my life," securing his victory.

He ended the tournament one stroke ahead of Rory McIlroy, who was aiming for his first major title in a decade.

This victory marked DeChambeau's second U.S. Open win, with his first being at Winged Foot in 2020. He joins an elite group of golfers, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, and Brooks Koepka, who have all won multiple US Open titles before turning 30.

📌 Overcomes Equipment Failure: About 15 minutes before his tee time on Sunday, Bryson DeChambeau was on the Pinehurst range with his team, swapping driver heads. He replaced his original head with a backup, took a few swings, then tried another new head still in its wrapping.

But not even this hindrance could stop him from clinching his second Major title.

Back In Top 10: DeChambeau has been a staunch critic of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) system since his move to LIV Golf but with this victory, he returns back to the Top 10. It is a remarkable rise up the much-debated rankings for DeChambeau, who prior to his second-place finish at the PGA Championship was ranked 124th.

🎯 Secret To Success: DeChambeau revealed that he has a habit of salting his golf balls before playing, just another aspect of his analytical approach to the game which has earned him the nickname of “The Scientist.”

He puts his golf balls in Epsom salt to ensure that they are not out of balance.

Rory McIlroy began Sunday's round three strokes behind DeChambeau, who was leading at 7-under after 54 holes. McIlroy briefly took the lead with an impressive run of four birdies in five holes but faltered on the last three holes, missing two crucial putts within three feet.

McIlroy had not missed a single putt within three feet all season, going 496-for-496 before his two misses to close the US Open. As it turned out, a dejected McIlroy could do nothing but watch from inside the scoring tent as DeChambeau fittingly sealed the tournament with a short putt.

🚫 Declines Interview: McIlroy was in no mood to talk with the media after choking away the US Open and declined an interview with the NBC Network. He also left the clubhouse and got into his car without speaking to the rest of the media.

💔 Leaves In A Huff: McIlroy wasted no time making his escape from Pinehurst after the devastating choke. He climbed into an SUV in the players’ parking lot, his clubs loaded in the back, and briefly spun the tires in the gravel as he left without speaking to anyone.

His silence spoke volumes about how crushing this loss must have felt.

These Golfers Were The Biggest Hitters @ US Open

Bryson DeChambeau won his second US Open title but surprisingly he wasn't the biggest hitter at Pinehurst No 2 - take a look at the players who rank above him.

🏌‍♀Gordon Sargent (amateur): Sargent led the field in Driving Distance after measuring an insanely good 346.9 yard tee shot. He actually ranked second in the field for distance coming into the week and definitely lived up to expectations.

🏌‍♀Luke Clanton (amateur): At just over ten yards shorter than Sargent, the fifth-ranked amateur in the world smashed an impressive 336.7 yard drive to nab second spot. Three wins in three collegiate starts recently would have given Clanton plenty of confidence entering the week and he certainly made the most of it.

🏌‍♀Chris Naegel: Naegel currently plays predominantly on the Korn Ferry Tour, but he can mix it with the world's best in the driving distance standings. He drove the ball a whopping 336.2 yards making him the third longest in the field.

🏌‍♀Joey Vrzich: It turns out smashing the ball miles off the tee is contagious, as Joey Vrzich followed his playing partner's lead and sent his golf ball into orbit. An impressive drive of 366.2 yards meant Vrzich matched the effort of Chris Naegel on his US Open debut.

🏌‍♀Bryson DeChambeau: With his longest drive measuring 336.1 yards, he once again ranks towards the top of the board for driving distance at a Major.

With 12 out of 14 fairways hit in his first round, Bryson is able to balance distance with accuracy off the tee, which ultimately sets him apart as one of the best drivers of the golf ball in the world right now.
