Plus: How to start the downswing correctly

Good Morning! Aaron Rai won his maiden PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship - check out the equipment Rai used during his victorious campaign at Sedgefield Country Club.

Today's Trivia: Who has the most number of FedEx Cup titles? Answer at the end of the mail.

⛳ This day in history: On this date in 1973, Jack Nicklaus won the PGA Championship at Canterbury Golf Club, a favorite course of Arnold Palmer’s while stationed at the Coast Guard in Cleveland.

Aaron Rai closed with a 6-under 64, making a 6½-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th to post an 18-under 262 in the regular-season finale at Sedgefield Country Club. It was enough for him to win the Wyndham Championship - his first ever PGA Tour title.

Rai was four strokes back after Greyserman holed out from 91 yards for eagle on the par-4 13th, then had an unexpected share of the lead a hole later when Greyserman drove out of bounds and made a quadruple-bogey 8 on 14.

J.J. Spaun (64) and Ryo Hisatsune (67) tied for third at 15 under. Amateur Luke Clanton bogeyed the final two holes for a 69 to tie for fifth with Austin Eckroat (67) at 14 under.

⛳️ Why is it Heading to a Monday Finish? The Wyndham Championship has crowned Rai the winner - but the final round at Sedgefield Country Club is not over yet.

In a tournament marked by a tropical storm, a quadruple bogey collapse and a Sunday that saw three different rounds being played, the golf gods offered one final twist. Playing in the final group with the sun setting, Matt Kuchar opted not to finish the 18th hole and to return Monday morning to conclude his final round.

Play was suspended after all three players in Kuchar's group – including Chad Ramey and Max Greyserman – hit their tee shots. All three players were given the option to finish on Monday.

While Ramey and Greyserman completed their rounds, Kuchar said he would return on Monday. He will resume his final round at 8 am ET.

Kuchar entered the Wyndham Championship at No 113 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and Eligibility Points List. Needing a win to extend his 17-year Playoffs streak and currently at T-12 at Wyndham, seven strokes back of winner Aaron Rai, his streak will come to an end.

How Much Money Has Scheffler Made In 2024?

Photo: Reuters | Source: The Mirror

Scottie Scheffler is on-course to claim the Player of the Year honors, with the World No 1 decimating the field so far this year. Not only did he pick up a Major scalp at the Masters in April, but the American has secured multiple PGA Tour signature events which, in turn, come with a very nice paycheck.

💰Starting in January, Scheffler finished in a tie for fifth at The Sentry, with $690,500 picked up at the first Signature Event. From there, he finished 17th at The American Express to pick up $132,300, with a tie for sixth at the second Signature Event, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, giving him $642,500.

💰Playing the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the start of March, he picked up a second title, claiming $4 million, with Scheffler defending his Players Championship title the week after, securing a $4.5 million payday in the process.

💰Scheffler almost won a third straight title on the bounce, but a short missed putt at the Texas Children's Houston Open meant a tie for second and a $553,735 paycheck. The runner-up spot only seemed to fire Scheffler up as, just a fortnight later, he slipped on a second Green Jacket at the Masters, as well as claiming a $3.6 million win.

💰 Scheffler headed to the RBC Heritage and won in a Monday finish, as $3.6 million brought his yearly winnings to well over $15 million.

The World No 1 secured the top spot of the PGA Tour's Comcast Business Top-10. Essentially, the top-10 leading players at the culmination of the PGA Tour's regular season share a bonus pool of $20 million, with 40% going to Scheffler - that's another $8 million!

His grand total earnings from all tournaments in 2024 add up to almost $37 million.

LPGA Hall Of Fame: How Did Lydia Ko Make It?

With her victory in the Olympic women’s golf competition at Le Golf National, Lydia Ko both won the gold medal and secured the final point necessary for inclusion in the LPGA Hall of Fame

The LPGA’s Hall is different than the World Golf Hall of Fame, with the former being points — not votes — based.

Twenty-seven points are needed for entry. One point is given for each LPGA official tournament win and each Vare Trophy or Rolex Player of the Year award. Two points are awarded for each major victory and another point is given for an Olympic gold medal.

In addition to the necessary 27 points, players must have won or been awarded at least one of the following: an LPGA major, the Vare Trophy or Rolex POY honors.

Ko was sitting on 26 points, having won an LPGA event in January and having met all the other requirements. The triumph in Paris gave here the final push.

35 players are currently a part of the LPGA Hall of Fame including Patty Berg, Betsy Rawls, Mickey Wright, Kathy Whitworth, Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb and Inbee Park among others.

📌 How did Ko make it? Regular season tournament titles on the LPGA are worth one point each. Ko has 18 of those wins. Majors count for two points each. Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship and 2016 ANA Inspiration, giving her a total of four points in that category.

Beginning in 2022, an Olympic gold is worth one point and she earned it after winning the title in Paris.

The remaining five points came from her season-long accolades: 2015 Rolex Player of the Year, 2021 Vare Trophy, 2022 Rolex Player of the Year and 2022 Vare Trophy.

Ko became only the 35th player to enter the LPGA Hall of Fame and only the 25th player to earn 27 HOF points. Nine women, including eight LPGA founders, were inducted as honorary members.
