⛳ Notable Pros That Lost Their PGAT Card

Plus: TGL delayed until 2025, and more

Good morning. Most championships are over for this year, except the next PGA - Hero World Challenge after the Thanksgiving break, from November 30 to December 3.

Until then, golf still continues to make news! Take TGL’s delayed start for instance, India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar’s win and golfers that won for the first time at the LPGA in 2023 and notable pros who just lost their tour card.

TGL Delayed Until 2025

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will wait until 2025 to launch their tech-infused TGL competition because of damage to the Florida arena that was going to take too long to repair and create scheduling problems for television and players.

The six-team league was supposed to debut on Jan. 9 on ESPN and finish the season before the Masters in April. Ownership of the six teams had been announced and players were filling rosters. And then the league suddenly had no place to play because of a power failure last week.

The Nov. 14 failure of a temporary power system and backup systems used for construction of the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens caused the dome to deflate, which damaged the air-supported dome section of the arena.

No one was injured, and most of the technology was not affected.

Gaganjeet Bhullar’s Empathetic Victory at Indonesian Masters

Gaganjeet Bhullar produced a virtuoso performance to win the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE, for his fifth title on Indonesian soil and the fourth wire-to-wire win of his career on the Asian Tour.

The 35-year-old from Amritsar, India eagled the par-five 18th at Royale Jakarta Golf Club for a closing 4-under 67 to finish at 24-under, which was five shots ahead of second-placed Karandeep Kochhar, also from India.

Ben Campbell from New Zealand, winner of the Hong Kong Open last Sunday, and Spaniard David Puig shots rounds of 65 and 66 respectively to claim third place, six back of Bhullar – in the final event of the season on The International Series.

It marks the first time Bhullar has raised this trophy, and it will proudly sit alongside three Indonesian Open wins and one Indonesia President Invitational title.

Plus it is the 11th win of his career on the Asian Tour – the most by an Indian, with Arjun Atwal and Jyoti Randhawa next best with eight titles.

BIRDIE
First Wins For These LPGA Stars In 2023

The LPGA’s official 2023 season came to a close on Sunday and a number of new benchmarks were set as the tour played for a record amount of money.

No one could’ve possibly imagined that Lilia Vu, a player who thought about quitting the game to go to law school a short time ago, would win two majors and emerge as the tour’s Rolex Player of the Year.

A record 12 players were Rolex First-Time winners this season, up from a record-tying 11 last season (first set in 1995).

Those 12 were honored at the Rolex LPGA Awards on Thursday evening and included: Allisen Corpuz, Linn Grant, Mone Inami, Megan Khang, Grace Kim, Alexa Pano, Elizabeth Szokol, Hae Ran Ryu, Chanettee Wannasaen, Lilia Vu, Angel Yin, Ruoning Yin and Rose Zhang.

While Japan’s Mone Inami won her first LPGA title in Japan earlier this month, because she did not become an official member for 2023, her victory, while official, did not make her a Rolex First-Time winner.
