The first 36 holes of the 2024 Olympic men’s golf competition are in the books and the top of the leaderboard is packed with the game’s biggest stars. Hideki Matsuyama, who was in a playoff for the bronze medal three years ago in Japan, leads the way at 11-under alongside Xander Schauffele — reigning gold medalist — and Tommy Fleetwood.

🚀 Schauffele On A Roll: Xander Schauffele opened with a 65 on Thursday and followed it up nicely with a 5-under 66 on Day 2. Despite a few “clanky” shots, Schauffele was able to pour in seven birdies on Friday and tie the lead heading into the weekend.

The World No 2 is very much on track to win two consecutive Olympic Gold medals.

đź“ŤRahm In Contention: Jon Rahm fired a 66 on Friday, one shot better than the 4-under 67 he posted Thursday, and is now solo fourth, two shots back of the lead with 36 holes to play.

The Spaniard has played well on the LIV circuit all year and finally captured his first win on the breakaway league last week in the UK. Now, he’s right in the middle of medal contention at the Olympics.

🏌‍♀Scottie and Rory Chase Leaders: World No 1 Scottie Scheffler carded a 2-under 69 that moved him into a tie for 10th while Rory McIlroy sits tied for 13th at 5 under, suffered a double bogey of his own on the par-4 seventh en route to his 69 on Friday.

McIlroy, who is representing Team Ireland alongside Shane Lowry, added that he was surprised by the softer conditions this time at Le Golf National after the hard-as-rock conditions teams were met with during the 2018 Ryder Cup.

Golf @ Olympics: Which Are The Best Men’s Outfits?

Photo: Getty Images | Source: Golfweek

As the men's Golf event continues into the weekend, we take a look at some of the best outfits that countries have supplied their players with.

🟡 Australia: We’re not sure anyone has ever looked better on the golf course than Jason Day did during the first round Thursday. Sure, Day always looks good on the PGA Tour thanks to his deal with Malbon Golf, but the Aussies nailed these uniforms.

🔴 United States: When J. Lindeberg was announced as the apparel partner for Team USA golf, we were a little nervous. However, the Americans looked clean during the first round and we’re excited to see what they’ll rock the rest of the week.

Team US

đź”´ Chile: The Chilean outfit looks a great fit for Joaquin Niemann. The hat, shirt and pants perfectly match the colors of the Chilean flag and every item ties into one another.

⚪️ Japan: Several countries went with the navy blue-white look at this week’s Olympics, but Japan is arguably doing it the best. This shirt has a great design and it matches well with the navy pants and hat.

Team Japan

🟢 Ireland: It’s only fitting that Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are rocking green for the Irish this week at Le Golf National. These fits suit them absolutely fine.

Team Ireland

🔵 Finland: The Finns went into a Word document, typed “Finland” and dropped it on a hat and polo. Sami Valimaki absolutely rocked it though - you gotta respect the simplicity.
