Koepka Warms Up For PGA Championship In Style

Photo: X (Twitter) | Source: Marca

Brooks Koepka became the first golfer to record four victories on the LIV Golf circuit after posting a two-stroke win at LIV Singapore.

Koepka will be next seen in action from May 16-19 at the Val Halla Golf Course, where he will attempt to defend his PGA Championship title.

⛳️ Great Record: Koepka has a great record at the PGA Championship, winning it thrice - 2018, 2019 and 2023. He's only the third golfer after Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods to 3+ PGA Championships in Stroke play format.

In 2023, he also became only the third player to win three PGA Championships in a six-year span, joining Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus.

πŸŒβ€β™€Odd Routine: Koepka recently revealed that he follows an 'odd' routine at the practice range. He never practices with even clubs - it's always 9,7 or 5-iron for him at the practice range. So, he's like never hitting a 6-iron except in an actual round.

While there's no particular reason behind this routine, it's certainly getting him the desired results.

Wet vs Dry Ball: Does Moisture Affect Performance?

Source: Wild Golf

Have you ever stopped to think what impact does moisture on the golf ball have on your driver, iron and wedge shots?

Well, we carried out an experiment to compare the ball performance and the most noticeable differences were centered around backspin and its effect on carry.

What Are Our Takeaways?

πŸ“Œ Driver backspin of a wet ball decreased by 6.3%, which resulted in 2.6% more carry (or 7 yards).

πŸ“Œ In case of a Pitching Wedge, the wet ball's backspin decreased by 88%, which resulted in 7.8% more carry (or 10 yards).

πŸ“Œ There was hardly any difference in the ball speed.

πŸ“Œ In case of drivers, there was no difference in how high the ball went but when it comes to pitch wedges, the wet ball travelled 5 yards higher.
