Plus: Optimize your golf release the right way

Good Morning. A lot at stake on the PGA and the LPGA Tour this week!

The PGA’s Signature event, RBC Heritage and LPGA’s first major of the year, the Chevron Championship tee off today at 8:15 am ET.

ESPN+ will provide exclusive featured group coverage for both the tournaments.

Fun Fact: The winner of the Chevron Championship traditionally celebrates her victory by jumping in the pond surrounding the 18th green. The pond is known as Champions Lake or Poppie's Pond.

⛳ This day in history: On this date in 1971, Kathy Whitworth won the LPGA Tour Raleigh Classic and in 1982, she won the CPC Women’s Golf International.

Scheffler's Eyes Season's 4th Win At Hilton Head

Scottie Scheffler had a quick Masters celebration and now it's time to get back to work. He is in red hot form and has absolutely dominated the men's game in the last couple of years.

🚀 OWGR: Scheffler has already spent the last 47 weeks atop the Official World Golf Ranking, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

The win elevated Scheffler’s average point total to 13.99, with more than a six-point lead over No 2 Rory McIlroy.

🏌‍♀ The 'Iron-Man': Scheffler’s ball-striking is his superpower and it's been years since his last poor iron performance.

The last time Scheffler lost strokes to the field with his approach play was the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. That’s a streak of 36 events spanning more than 600 days.

⏳ Best of Both Worlds: Scheffler leads the PGA TOUR in both birdie average (5.43 per round) and bogey avoidance (1.6 per round). It’s a lethal combo that further explains why Scheffler’s scoring average (68.8) is a full shot lower than No 2 Xander Schauffele (69.9).

📌 Always In The Red: The Masters cumulatively played 568 over-par across four rounds but Scheffler had none.

Scheffler has carded zero over-par rounds this season - he has more wins (three) than rounds over par (zero).

💰FedEx Cup Frontrunner: After his Masters victory, Scheffler has amassed 3,215 points. He’s accumulated in nine events what it took him 20 events to do a year ago.

Scheffler has more than double the FedExCup points than No 2 Wyndham Clark. Scheffler has more than triple the points of No 8 Byeong Hun An.

PGA Pros Protest Against Freebies

Photo: AP | Source: Golf Monthly

The PGA and the LPGA Tour are looking for feasible solutions to their respective problems going into the high-voltage tournaments this week.

⛳️ PGA's Sponsor Exemption Conundrum: PGA Tour's player director Webb Simpson has recieved yet another sponsor exemption, this time into the RBC Heritage.

Simpson’s exemptions have received increased scrutiny as did an exemption to Peter Malnati at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and to Adam Scott because all three are player directors on the Tour Policy Board.

Qualifying for signature events is meant to be a meritocracy and PGA Tour players are continuously voicing their opinions against these freebies that are being offered to selected individuals.

⛳️ LPGA Suffering From Jam-Packed Schedule? The scheduling for this week’s Chevron Championship is significant. Not only does it follow the Masters, but it also coincides with one of the PGA Tour’s signature events, the RBC Heritage in South Carolina, where eight contenders of the Masters will be competing.

Broadcast and media schedules will be impacted, with Chevron drawing the short straw. It is unlikely to receive enough coverage in what could potentially be a monumental week for women's golf.
