Good Morning! PGA Tour’s emerging star Ludvig Aberg, who is making his US Open debut, is the solo leader after Round 2.

Just one shot behind is the most in-form LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau. He sits T-2 alongside Patrick Cantlay and Thomas Detry.

It’s shaping up to be a fascinating PGA vs LIV Golf battle at Pinehurst No 2 - watch all the action live on NBC Sports.

Today’s Trivia: Who holds the tournament record score (aggregate) at the US Open? Answer at the end of the email.

⛳ This day in history: On this date in 1947 at St. Louis Country Club, Sam Snead, never a winner of the Open, had one of his close calls, losing a playoff to Lew Worsham, 69-70. The final hole featured the infamous delayed putt by Snead.

Ludvig Aberg worked his way to a 1-under 69 on Friday and a one-shot lead going into the weekend of his US Open debut. The trio of Cantlay, DeChambeau and Detry are all tied for the second spot after Round 2.

Even though this marks the first time Aberg has played in a US Open, the former Texas Tech star played the famed Donald Ross design during the US Amateur back in 2019. On Friday, he posted a pair of bogeys but also made three birdies in finishing with a solid 69 to hold the 36-hole lead.

📌 Scheffler Stumbles: Scottie Scheffler was living on the cut line for much of Friday after shooting 71-74. He ended up advancing to the weekend without a shot to spare, 10 shots behind leader Ludvig Aberg.

Scheffler’s struggles offer a rare opportunity for the rest of the field this weekend. While Scheffler spent Friday afternoon wondering about his weekend fate, Schauffele and McIlroy prepared for another opportunity to win a major.

McIlroy (T-5) and Schauffele (T-9) are very much in contention for a win while Scheffler (T-57) is virtually out of the race.

🚫Stars Miss Cut: The US Open offers perhaps the most challenging cut line in professional golf - top 57 players (out of 156) and ties made the 36-hole cut.

Several big names have failed to make it to the weekend including Tiger Woods, Viktor Hovland, Max Homa, and Justin Thomas among others.
