MacIntyre Wins Canadian Open With Dad As Caddie

Robert MacIntyre with father Dougie at his side as his caddie held on to win the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday for his first PGA Tour title. MacIntyre shot a 2-under 68 in the final round to beat playing partner Ben Griffin by a stroke.

MacIntyre turned to his father on an emergency basis after going through a series of caddies in the past year and it couldn't have worked out any better.

This is the Scottish player's first victory in 45 PGA Tour starts.

⛳️ Pro Uses Fan As Caddie: While MacIntyre had his dad as the bagman, C.T Pan used four different caddies including a fan during Sunday's final round.

This happened after Pan's caddie, Mike "Fluff" Cowan, slipped on the rainy third hole at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, sustaining minor injuries.

A local fan, Paul Emerson, briefly took over caddie duties. Mike Campbell replaced Emerson on the fifth hole, then Alex Riddell took over for the back nine. C.T Pan eventually finished T-35.

Saso Wins 2nd US Women's Open Title

Japan's Yuka Saso shot a 2-under 68 in her final round to capture her second US Women's Open championship at Lancaster Country Club. Hinako Shibuno shot a 72 Sunday to make it a 1-2 finish for Japan,

Saso, who also won in 2021 for her first major title, was one of just two players to finish the week under par. At 22 years 11 months 13 days, she has become the youngest golfer with two US Women’s Open titles.

Back in 2021, she became the first US Open winner from the Philippines, the birth country of her mother. Her latest crown comes representing Japan, the birth country of her father.

⛳️ USGA Tweaks Hole: The final round of the 2024 US Women's Open saw something pretty unique as the USGA opted to make a pretty drastic change to the penultimate par 4.

Scoring was very difficult at this week's event and the apex body took the decision in an attempt to induce a few more birdies down the stretch and shake up the closing stages of the championship.

Measuring 340 yards during round one, 351 yards in round two, and 342 yards for round three so far this week, the USGA surprised everyone on Sunday morning by posting a photo of the information board on the 16th which showed just 239 yards as its total length for round four.

148 of the 150 players with sufficient data available are averaging over 239 yards with their drives this season and that was the primary reason behind the change - to help the players make more birdies.

Darren Clarke introduced an unusual training aid to his golf game at the Principal Charity Classic. The Major winner discovered the aid while browsing Amazon.

He explained that one of the key aspects of striking the ball is keeping the head mostly stationary while turning and using the body. He mentioned that he found this effective "pro head thing" and thought it was a good idea, so they tried it out that morning.

While demonstrating the training aid, Clarke showed the capabilities of the Pro-Head Golf Swing Trainer. He discussed his previous swing preferences and mentioned, humorously, that he received some teasing from his "fellow Champions Tour professionals."

📌 How Does the Training Aid Help? The training aid is made for all golfers, all ages, all body heights, men, women, kids, beginners, juniors and advanced players, left and right handed players.

Introducing the training aid in Iowa, Clarke eventually finished well down the leaderboard at T-54 though.
