World No 1 Scottie Scheffler won the first playoff hole with a par to capture the Travelers Championship defeating South Korea's Tom Kim. Scheffler and Kim finished at 22-under-par 258, two strokes clear of other contenders.
Scheffler prevailed for the second time in three weeks, capturing the Memorial Tournament prior to last week's struggles at the US Open. Tom Hoge (62) and Sungjae Im (66) shared third place at 20 under.
Akshay Bhatia, who joined Scheffler and Kim in the final group, shot 69 for a fifth-place tie at 18 under alongside Tony Finau (66), Patrick Cantlay (65) and Justin Thomas (66).
🚀 In the Record Books: Scheffler has become just the sixth player in PGA Tour history to win six times before July. The previous five: Jimmy DeMaret (1940), Byron Nelson (1945), Ben Hogan (1946), Sam Snead (1950) and Arnold Palmer, who is the only person to accomplish this feat twice (1960, 1962).
Scheffler’s six victories also make him just the fourth different player in the last 40 years to win at least six times in single Tour season.
💰Big Bucks: Scheffler tops the PGA Tour field this season in money earned with $27,696,858 accumulated through the tournaments he's played. That includes the $3.6 million he won from the Masters and the $3.6 million-plus he has earned from each of his other five wins on the tour this year.
In total, Scheffler is estimated to have earned $91,628,754 throughout his PGA Tour career. That number includes $70,262,087 won in official PGA Tour events.

Protestors Scare Pros For Life

A group of protesters ran onto the 18th green at TPC River Highlands to interrupt the conclusion of the Travelers Championship on Sunday. Police handcuffed at least five people, who were later identified to be members of the Just Stop Oil activist group.
The final group of golfers, including tournament leader Scottie Scheffler and second-place Tom Kim of South Korea, were reading their putts on the final hole of the event when people ran out of the gallery and onto the field of play. They spread red and white powder or paint onto the green, including near the cup.
😱 Bhatia Scared For Life: After finishing the tournament in a tie for fifth, Akshay Bhatia revealed that he was worried about his own safety after protestors managed to get so close to him and other pros.
"I was scared for my life. I didn't even really know what was happening. But thankfully the cops were there and kept us safe, because that's, you know, that's just weird stuff."
Each protester was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass and breach of peace. They were released after posting $5,000 bonds, and they are scheduled to appear in court July 1.
🚨 Detailed Planning? Now, this is where it gets scary - it wasn't a one-off incident. Members from the same activist group had earlier blocked the entrance into the International Golf Club before the final round of the KLM Open in the Netherlands. This extreme environmental activist group primarily focuses on the issue of human-caused climate change.
Police were called to the golf course, with the final group eventually teeing off at 3pm local time, two hours after their original tee time of 1pm.

This Is Why You Should Track Your Shots

A growing number of golfers are tracking their shots and you should do it too.
Why? Well, here are six important reasons.
⛳️ Know Your Game Better: Tracking your shots when you play allows you to build up a set of statistics in no time at all. When you remove any guesswork – and your ego – you’re giving yourself a much better chance of hitting the ball closer to the pin – it’s that simple.
⛳️ Smarter Decision-Making: One area where you could quickly find yourself making significant improvements is off the tee. If you know what your tee shots tendencies are, you can make adjustments and keep destructive tee shots and big numbers off the card.
In short, you can make course strategy a strength.
⛳️ Practice Smarter: When you track every shot, you’ll arm yourself with a comprehensive database of statistics that clearly highlight what your strengths and weaknesses are.
A closer look at your short game, meanwhile, might reveal that your sand save percentage is alarmingly low or that the majority of your putts are coming up short.
⛳️ Pre Round Preparation: The beauty of tracking your shots means that you can prepare more thoroughly than you’ve ever done before. Perhaps the course requires you to play most shots from right-to-left, or its length means that you’ll be hitting a lot of long irons and hybrids into the greens.
⛳️ Understanding Your Bag Make-Up: You might want to put a long iron in the bag if you’re playing a links course to make use of the extra run on offer, or opt for an extra hybrid on a course where there are a number of really tight driving holes. Tracking your shots will help you figure out what you exactly need for a particular course.
⛳️ Goal Setting and Challenges: Tracking your shots is that it allows you to compare your stats to other golfers. There’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition to help you improve.
