Today's Trivia: Who's the most successful player in the history of the Travelers Championship?  Answer at the end of the mail.

⛳ This day in history: On this date in 2013, Charley Hoffman shot an incredible nine-under-par 61 in the first round of the Travelers, but it was just good enough for a one-shot lead. Charley couldn't keep up such strong play and in the end Ken Duke was the winner in a playoff with Chris Stroud.

Scheffler Battles Mental Fatigue Heading Into Travelers

Photo: Getty Images | Source: ESPN

Scottie Scheffler has experienced highs and lows this year: he had a baby, was arrested, and has won five times, including the Masters, with the season only halfway through. He is set to compete in the Travelers Championship starting today and has spoken about the unique mental strain golf imposes on players.

In a pre-tournament presser, Scheffler revealed the challenges he's facing, explaining that golf requires a steady, focused mind, which is hard to maintain over consecutive tournaments. Despite his rigorous physical routine, the 27-year-old admitted the mental toll is more formidable.

The 11-time PGA Tour winner emphasized that golfers have to constantly strategize, make precise calculations, and stay composed under varying conditions, which can be mentally exhausting and he is currently dealing with mental fatigue heading into the tournament this week.

⛳️ Scheffler Reveals #1 Issue at Pinehurst: Pinehurst No 2 proved to be a very difficult course to tackle for most golfers at the US Open last weekend. Even Scottie Scheffler had some issues with the course that kept him from continuing his dominant run on the PGA Tour.

The wiregrass at Pinehurst was just hard to maneuver for Scheffler. He finished 70th in strokes gained and the second round saw him play 18 without a birdie which nearly pushed him below the cut line for the first time in two years.

But he did go on to appreciate the challenges at Pinehurst which players like McIlroy and DeChambeau overcame as the weekend went by.

Schauffele Set To Overtake Rory

Rory McIlroy's decision to withdraw from this week's Travelers Championship has put his world ranking in danger. This week's signature event offers valuable OWGR points alongside a $20 million purse and 700 FedEx Cup points - McIlroy will miss them all.

McIlroy is set to lose his World No 2 position to the third-placed Xander Schauffele and he might go further down the rankings depending on the results at TPC River Highlands. Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa all stand a chance to overtake McIlroy if they win this week.

Xander Schauffele is the biggest threat though. Even a half-decent result will see him climb to the second spot and he has been in great form as his performances in the PGA Championship (winner) and the US Open (T7) suggest.

🎯 DeChambeau Moves Into The Top 10: Bryson DeChambeau earned 100 world ranking points following his US Open triumph and has jumped from 38 to 10 in the OWGR. This is his highest-ever rank since joining LIV Golf and he is now the second golfer from the league alongside Jon Rahm (9th) to occupy a spot in the top ten.

He replaced Max Homa on the list, who was 10th last week. Now, Homa sits 15th after failing to make the cut at the US Open.

These 10 Tips Will Transform Your Short Game

Photo: Getty Images | Source: Golf Monthly

These expert short-game tips, from 10-time tour winner Matt Wallace, cover everything from escaping the sand to reading greens like a champion.

🏌‍♀Pitching Distances: Maintain a chart with four different positions for your lob wedge. The clubhead to shoulder position corresponds to 40 yards, the point where the tag sits on the shaft to your shoulder is 60 yards, the hands to shoulder position is 80 yards, and the full swing covers 90 yards.

🏌‍♀Increasing Power: Work on hitting it out the middle and that comes through practice - as that’s when you get the best ball speed. The ball hardly moves left to right any more if you hit it properly.

🏌‍♀Chipping: Focus on trying to feel like you are hitting slight draws, as this helps to shallow out the club and ensure the clubhead is moving more down the target line. If you hit the chips slightly out of the toe, this is a good drill and it helps generate decent spin.

🏌‍♀Holing Out: Always aim to hit the ball over a spot a foot and a half in front of you, rather than looking directly at the hole. With many big, breaking putts, it is easier to focus on a spot when aiming outside the hole.

🏌‍♀Green Reading: Assess a putt by examining the high and low side. Look from the low side to check the break and speed.

From behind the ball, determine their start line and the spot you want to hit it over, tracing your eyes up and down that line while visualizing the ball going into the hole at a certain speed.
