The Players Championship had a thrilling finish with World No 1 Scottie Scheffler mounting an inspirational comeback to defend his title.

🏆 Epic Comeback: Scottie Scheffler battled injuries and a five-shot deficit to win The Players Championship by one stroke.

He has now won two PGA Tour titles in consecutive weeks and became the first golfer in history to win back-to-back titles at The Players.

💔 Heartbreaks: Wyndham Clark (69), Brian Harman (68) and overnight leader Xander Schauffele (70) all had the chance to win but eventually finished T-2.

While Schauffele bottled a significant lead, Wyndham was quite unlucky not to force a playoff following an agonizing lip-out on the 72nd hole.

⛳️ No 17 Plays Toughest: The famed 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass relinquished just four birdies, the lowest total of the week, while a tournament-high 18 shots found the water.

Nine players made double bogey or worse.

🚨 Record Alert: Sam Ryder made 27 birdies for the week setting the record for most birdies in a tournament at TPC Sawgrass' Stadium Course.

He surpassed the record of 26 birdies, set by Fuzzy Zoeller in 1994 and by Rory McIlroy this week.

💰 Money Milestone: Scottie Scheffler took the top spot for most money won in a career at The Players after bagging the first prize of $4.5 million.

He takes over the top spot from Sergio Garcia as Tiger Woods slides from the second to third. Scheffler has also jumped to 14th place on the all-time PGA Tour money list with $53.5 million.
