Plus: 3 drills to strengthen your core
Good Morning! Round 3 of The Open Championship is in progress and it’s heading towards a fascinating finish - catch all the live action on the USA TV Network and Peacock.
And, before you head out to the golf course this weekend, don’t forget to check out our exclusive tips (Driving Range) on how strengthening your core can improve your overall game.
Today’s Trivia: Who holds the tournament record score (aggregate) at The Open Championship? Answer at the end of the email.
⛳ This day in history: Tom Watson put on a masterful performance in the 1980 Open Championship by shooting 271 at Muirfield, including shooting a 69 on this date, and winning by four over second-place Lee Trevino. Watson won the Open Championship for the third time.

Lowry Leads As Tiger and Rory Crash Out

Shane Lowry shot 2-under 69 at Royal Troon’s Old Course and leads by two strokes after Round 2. For the first time since 1951, the top three at the halfway point of the Open are all from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Three of the last four 36-hole leaders/co-leaders at the British Open have gone on to win: Brian Harman last year, Cameron Smith in 2022 and wait for it - Lowry in 2019.
🚀Scheffler In Control: Scottie Scheffler has fired a pair of 70s to sit T-4 and lurking just five back as he seeks his seventh win of the season. He had a good round despite his caddie, Ted Scott's health being a concern - he is suffering from food poisoning or a stomach bug.
Scheffler is attempting to become the first player to win multiple majors in a year since Brooks Koepka won the US Open and PGA Championship in 2018.
📌Major Champions In Contention: Lowry, Rose and Scottie Scheffler aren’t the only major champions who are in contention heading into the weekend.
Jason Day and Xander Schauffele (1-under) are T-7. Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, the 2021 Open champ, and Jon Rahm (1-over) are T-13.
đźš«Stars Miss Cut: The Open cuts the field to the low 70 players and ties after the first two rounds and a number of big names have fallen prey to this challenging cutline.
The most notable casualty of the cut was Rory McIlroy, who was considered to be one of the pre-tournament favorites. Other stars who failed to make it to the weekend include Tiger Woods, Ludvig Aberg, Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland, and Wyndham Clark, among others.

Does PGA Tour Provide The Best Viewing Experience?
Photo: Getty Images | Source: Golf Monthly
As we reach the height of the golf season, fans have the option to watch DP World Tour, PGA Tour and LIV Golf action...often all in the same weekend.
The level of content can be overwhelming and that makes us wonder which of the men's tours has the best viewing experience - let's find out.
đź“ş No of Shots Shown: LIV Golf actually shows the most shots per hour (120), eclipsing the figures of the PGA Tour (88) and the DP World Tour (85). The pace of LIV's coverage is much more engaging, with a nice variety of shots and players delivered at a tempo which keeps you wanting more.
đź“ş Bonus Content: This is done equally well by LIV Golf and the DP World Tour. The PGA Tour definitely lags behind both in this section due to their monotonous studio chats.
đź“ş Overall Experience: LIV Golf is the clear winner. It's also free to air on YouTube, perhaps making it more enjoyable for non-traditional golf fans.
The PGA Tour ranks second and if they could adopt a little more of LIV Golf's pizzazz, they have the players and tournaments to really make it a compelling watch.
