Fun Fact: At 39, Keegan Bradley will be the youngest US Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963 (age 34).

⛳ This day in history: One of the Open Championship's more memorable editions ended on this date in 1953 with Ben Hogan winning by four strokes over a quartet of players at Carnoustie. It culminated a year in which Hogan won the first three majors of the year but couldn’t play the PGA because it conflicted with The Open.

ODDS AND PICKS
Our Top Picks For Genesis Scottish Open

🚩 The Genesis Scottish Open tees off tomorrow with PGA Tour stars assembling at The Renaissance Club to battle it out for the prestigious title.

💰 Purse: $9 million, winner takes home $1.58 million.

Here are our top picks we’re betting on:

🚀 Most Likely to Win: Xander Schauffele (+900), who has already won at this event, is well-suited to the Renaissance Club because of his powerful drives and exceptional lag putting. Links golf often highlights players' weaknesses, but Xander's all-around game makes him one of the most dependable players whenever he competes.

🚀 Key Player in the Top 5: Viktor Hovland (+400) has consistently performed well at the Open Championship, with four top-15 finishes in his four appearances. The young Norwegian excels on links golf courses, thanks to his penetrating ball flight and preference for putting around the green rather than chipping. Recently, he finished in the top 20 at the Travelers Championship, where he gained over five strokes off the tee, indicating he's in excellent form at the right moment.

🚀 Key Player in the Top 10: Wyndham Clark (+333) is still one of the longest drivers in the field and an outstanding putter, with top-25 finishes in both of his appearances at the Renaissance Club. After securing a top-10 finish at the Travelers Championship, we anticipate another strong performance from the former US Open champion.

🚀 Key Player in the Top 20: Robert MacIntyre (+175), in addition to his runner-up finish at the Doak design last year, has achieved two other top-20 finishes at this event and has two top-10s in four appearances at the Open Championship. His driving power, lag putting skill, and experience on links-style courses will be advantageous at the Scottish Open.

🚀 Underdog Likely to Emerge: Nicolai Hojgaard (+6600) has a good record at the Renaissance Club, having previously secured a sixth place finish. Known for his length off the tee, he also has the potential to excel on the greens. It wouldn't be surprising to see this Ryder Cup player contend again at the Scottish Open.

This Is How One Phone Call Changed Everything For Bradley

Phone: Getty Images | Source: ESPN

Keegan Bradley was enjoying some family time at home when his phone rang. On the other end of the line was outgoing PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh, PGA of America president John Lindert and 2023 US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson.

It was Johnson who had to inform Bradley last year that he had been left off the 12-man US Ryder Cup Team despite ranking 11th in points. The scene was one of the most heartwrenching moments in the second season of the Netflix docuseries “Full Swing.”

This time, though, Johnson had different news to share: Bradley had been named the captain of the 2025 US Ryder Cup team. It was a surprise even to Bradley, who hadn’t talked to anyone about the role before receiving that call.

🎯 Bradley Reveals His Plans: The new US captain was unveiled on Tuesday afternoon in New York City and here are the revelations from his presser:

📍Last year, the US vice captains were Steve Stricker, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Fred Couples and Cink. But this time, the vice-captains are going to be a lot younger.

📍Bradley made it clear that he would not pick himself should he fail to qualify for the 12-man US team on points. He’s currently No24 in the standings, so as of now, Bradley would not be a playing captain.

📍LIV Golf players are welcome to the team as long as they are among the 12 best players in the country. He also revealed that Phil Mickelson is not interested in accepting a vice captain’s role and hence is not a part of his plans.

Tiger Reveals Why He Turned Down Captaincy

Tiger Woods declined the opportunity to become United States Ryder Cup captain due to his responsibilities and commitments with the PGA Tour. Woods was the overwhelming favorite to succeed Zach Johnson as the next captain and had been in extended talks with the PGA of America.

The 15-time Major winner revealed that he turned down the offer due to a lack of time, but left the door open on potentially taking up the role in the future. He first spoke about his reluctance to take on the Ryder Cup captaincy ahead of the PGA Championship in May.

Woods is a player director on the PGA Tour Policy Board and has been a key figure in the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. He wants to dedicate more time to the negotiations and admitted that it wouldn't be possible to juggle both roles at the same time.

⛳️ Rory Plays With Rahm: Rory McIlroy warmed up for his competitive return at the Scottish Open this week by playing in a pro-member event at the highly-exclusive Queenwood Golf Club alongside Jon Rahm and Ian Poulter.

The golf club - which opened in 2001 - annually hosts a one-day pro-member event called the Queenwood Cup on its championship course.

Rahm and amateur partner Mohammed Farooq won the team competition on 11-under via a 5.4 Handicap Index. McIlroy and playing partner Ross Desmond finished seventh thanks to a 64.

McIlroy will tee off tomorrow at the Renaissance Club in a bid to defend his Genesis Scottish Open title.
