Day 2 Leaderboards from 3 PGA Matches

PGA Tour: 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship

Butterfield Bermuda Championship: Sweden's Alex Noren maintained his two-stroke overnight lead at the Bermuda Championship on Friday, carding a five-under-par in the second round to move to 15-under.

LPGA: The ANNIKA Driven

The ANNIKA Driven: First-round leader Brooke Henderson of Canada fired a 5-over 75 and dropped down the leaderboard at the Annika Driven LPGA event in Belleair, Fla., on Friday. She finished the day at 3-under, nine shots back of Emily Kristine Pedersen, who carded a second-round 65 to go with her 63 from Thursday.

PGA Tour: Charles Schwab Cup Championship

Charles Schwab Cup Championship: After a first day leading round, Ernie Els is at T7 on day 2 at Pheonix Country Club, with a total of 9-under. Steven Alker and Marco Dawson finish tied first at 11-under, with just a one shot lead. Day 3 is going to be exciting!

EAGLE
The Whopping Money TGL Players Will Make

Tiger Woods- and Rory McIlroy-backed golf league, TGL, will feature 24 PGA Tour players playing inside a South Florida arena on Monday and Tuesday nights. The purse for the entirety of Season 1 is $21 million.

The winning team will take home $9 million at the end of the season. Split four ways, that’s a $2.25 million payout for each member of the team.

The league will have six teams playing a round-robin schedule before four teams advance to the semifinals. So, the winning team will play five matches to advance to the playoffs and then two matches to win the championship.

Considering that each team only needs to field three of its four players each night, we’re likely talking about a $2.25 million payout for players on the winning team on what would likely be a 6-night commitment.

What else is making news

  • Max Homa maintained a share of the lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge by shooting a 4-under 68 in the second round Friday, with Matthieu Pavon joining him atop the leaderboard.

  • Experience Pinehurst just days before the 2024 U.S. Open field does. The three-day-two-night event — called the Countdown to the U.S. Open at Pinehurst — is set for May 28-30, 2024, and costs $7,000 per person, or $10,500 for double occupancy.

  • After switching driver head and shaft, Ernie Els shoots 63 to open Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Els got a little lighter shaft in his driver and went with a different driver head from XXIO. A bogey-free, 8-under 63 has staked him to a two-shot lead after 18 holes at Phoenix Country Club.

  • Lydia Ko fell from No. 1 to outside the top 100 on the CME points list. Just over one year ago, Lydia Ko was quite literally on top of the world. What does this mean for next year?
