McIlroy, Spieth Mount Strong Comeback

Round 2 of the Valero Texas Open was headlined by the comeback of the stars while a number of top names missed the cut.

πŸš€ Bhatia Extends Lead: Akshay Bhatia is well on course to secure the final Masters spot as things stand after the second round at TPC San Antonio.

Bhatia (-11) has now extended his lead to five shots over the chasing trio of McCarthy, Henley and Todd.

⏳ Rory In Contention: Rory McIlroy narrowly avoided a penalty stroke at the after his ball was overhanging the hole before dropping just in time. Had it fallen in two seconds later, he would have breached the 10-second rule and been forced to add a stroke to his scorecard.

McIlroy currently sits fifth, six shots behind the leader and very much in contention of winning his maiden PGA Tour title of the season.

🏌️ Spieth's Comeback: Jordan Spieth was languishing down at T-80 after the first round but finished with a 68 on Friday to get into a tie for 10th after 36 holes. To make his day even better, Spieth was given a car for his hole-in-one during the opening round of play.

🚫 Stars Miss Cut: The par was set at 1 over after Round 2 and a number of top names have missed the cut including Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and Billy Horschel among others.

πŸ“Œ Caddie Corner: Tommy Fleetwood is without his regular caddie, Ian Finnis, who has been dealing with an illness. He recruited Adrian Rietveld, a senior manager at TaylorMade as his temporary bagman for the tournament.

Fleetwood (-4) sits T-6 after Round 2.
