World No 1 Scottie Scheffler sits on top of the Memorial leaderboard - the spot we're so used to seeing him occupy. He finished strong for a 4-under 68 to go from a tie to a 3-shot lead after Round 2.

Scheffler hit a 3-iron into the wind that narrowly cleared the bunker and rode the slope to 8 feet for eagle on the par-5 15th. He closed with two solid par saves and a shot from a fairway bunker to 12 feet for birdie on the last to build some separation.

While it looks like a comfortable lead, he will be wary of the chasing pack that contains a number of big names including Hovland, Schauffele, Aberg and McIlroy.

🚀College Freshman Makes Cut: Jackson Koivun has made the cut on his PGA Tour debut. Koivun earned a spot in the Memorial by winning the Jack Nicklaus Award, given by the Golf Coaches Association of America to the player of the year.

With the made cut, Koivun earned his 15th point in PGA TOUR University’s Accelerated Program. He is five points from reaching the 20-point threshold and becoming a TOUR member.

🚩Stars Drop Out: A number of top players have failed to make the cut and that includes Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Rose, among others. This week’s field is cut to the low 50 and ties and any other players within 10 strokes of the lead after two rounds.

World No 4 Clark bogeyed the 18th hole to miss the cut by one. It is his second consecutive missed cut and third in his past five starts.

Spieth also was among those who missed the cut by one.
